PARTICIPATION REQUESTED IN TEXTUAL RESEARCH FOR TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE:

Subject: methodologies of diagnosis of disease in Chinese medicine as seen from different traditional social communities. We can think here of:

  • Official licensed doctors according to the Song and later University systems
  • Daoist religious practitioners
  • Buddhist religious practitioners
  • Folk and street medicine
  • Pharmacologist and herbal trader medicine
  • Oracular or divinatory diagnosis

Method: the purpose is to collect Chinese texts and their translations in English, French, German and Dutch on diagnosis in these fields of Chinese Medicines. These texts or text fragments we want to compare to create a multifaceted anthropological view of Chinese medicine diagnosis as a reference work for future study in history of Chinese medicines. As a parallel we are going to set these out against western medical diagnostic investigation to compare effectiveness and methodology and how they relate to solution finding on the theoretical and economical level. From this an advisory rapport will be written to contribute to western and Chinese medicine diagnosis development.

We ask for participation of anyone willing for the following reason: The source for these texts and text fragments we hope to find with many students of Chinese language and medicine, Religion and Culture. That is a lot of research material that is now unused for such large scale investigations. We'd like to create a large cooperative body for these and future research and reference available to the field of Chinese Medicine research.

What we return: Participants will be posted on a regular basis about effects and will receive a free copy of the findings. Also we are willing to cooperate with other research projects that might benefit from these research findings or others
